Nude Suit

A naked suit, or nude suit, is any flesh-colored, skin-tight bodysuit that gives the illusion that the wearer is naked. For example, in the eighth season of Seinfeld, George Costanza tries to get fired from the Yankees by streaking the stadium wearing a naked suit.
A simple, plain naked suit can be embellished with fake pubic hair, genitalia, or nipples, in order to make it look even more convincing, while over-embellishing can make it more obvious that the wearer is actually clothed. A naked suit can also be accessorized by wearing any number of regular clothing items over the bodysuit.

Naked bodysuits are an essential item in any comprehensive costume closet, creating the basis for a number of naked or nearly-naked costumes. Naked suits also provide an extra layer of warmth and protection from the elements if your naked activity involves being outdoors in cold weather. For example, naked skiing can be a lot more fun, and a lot safer, when you’re not actually naked.
Naked suits are becoming more widely used in the media when real nudity would be otherwise considered censored material. In an episode of Tyra that explored the female body image, guests on the show wore naked suits in order to assign each other body-type labels. In addition, the guests were able to appear “naked” on stage in their naked suits.

In this 2009 Vanity Fair photo, photographer Annie Leibovitz recreated her own 2006 cover photo using Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd, Seth Rogan, and Jason Segel wearing naked suits in the new version, thankfully.

From the same photo series, your guess is as good as mine – naked suits, or just naked Scarlett Johansson and naked Keira Knightley?

Several artists have taken naked suits to another level, however. Artists like Alba d’Urbano created pieces of clothing that can be mixed and matched, appearing like the naked human body when worn together.

Inspired by Alba d’Urbano, artist Matthew Glover created his own line of airbrushed textiles and photographed subjects wearing the clothing in otherwise normal environments. Glover says his clothing line is “for the nudist who works in a closed-minded office environment.”

If you had a closed-minded office environment, how do you suppose they’d react to one of the outfits above?
One of the most unique twists on the naked suit to date was created by San Francisco conceptual artist Anna Maltz, who knits naked body suits from goat hair and mohair, including female breasts, male genitalia, and body hair. The suits are used to clothe families for naked family portraits, as a part of Maltz’s series entitled “One Size Fits All.”

The video blurs out all genitalia, but this photo provides a clear picture of Maltz’s uncensored naked suits, showing off her suits’ “anatomically correct appendages.”

To say the least, wearing a naked suit in public can be an interesting social experiment, garnering responses ranging from those who cover their eyes or look away in horror to perfect strangers who will ask if they can feel you up. Do you dread public speaking? Try wearing a naked suit for your next public presentation, putting a whole new spin on picturing your audience naked, by simply making your audience good, old-fashioned uncomfortable.
